Surah Ar-RahmanMadineh78In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. The All-beneficent ﴾1﴿has taught the Quran. ﴾2﴿He created man, ﴾3﴿[and] taught him articulate speech. ﴾4﴿The sun and the moon are [disposed] calculatedly, ﴾5﴿and the herb and the tree prostrate [to Allah]. ﴾6﴿He raised the heaven high and set up the balance, ﴾7﴿declaring, ‘Do not infringe the balance! ﴾8﴿Maintain the weights with justice, and do not shorten the balance!’ ﴾9﴿And the earth—He laid it out for mankind. ﴾10﴿In it are fruits and date-palms with sheaths, ﴾11﴿grain with husk, and fragrant herbs. ﴾12﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾13﴿He created man out of dry clay, like the potter’s, ﴾14﴿and created the jinn out of a flame of a fire. ﴾15﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾16﴿Lord of the two easts, and Lord of the two wests! ﴾17﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾18﴿He merged the two seas, meeting each other. ﴾19﴿There is a barrier between them, which they do not overstep. ﴾20﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾21﴿From them emerge the pearl and the coral. ﴾22﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾23﴿His are the sailing ships on the sea [appearing] like landmarks. ﴾24﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾25﴿Everyone on it is ephemeral, ﴾26﴿yet lasting is the majestic and munificent Face of your Lord. ﴾27﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾28﴿Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him. Every day He is engaged in some work. ﴾29﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾30﴿Soon We shall make Ourselves unoccupied for you, O you notable two! ﴾31﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾32﴿O company of jinn and humans! If you can pass through the confines of the heavens and the earth, then do pass through. But you will not pass through except by an authority [from Allah]. ﴾33﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾34﴿There will be unleashed upon you a flash of fire and a smoke; then you will not be able to help one another. ﴾35﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾36﴿When the sky is split open, and turns crimson like tanned leather. ﴾37﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾38﴿On that day neither humans will be questioned about their sins nor jinn. ﴾39﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾40﴿The guilty will be recognized by their mark; so they will be seized by their forelocks and feet. ﴾41﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾42﴿‘This is the hell which the guilty would deny!’ ﴾43﴿They shall circuit between it and boiling hot water. ﴾44﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾45﴿For him who stands in awe of his Lord will be two gardens. ﴾46﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾47﴿Both abounding in branches. ﴾48﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾49﴿In both of them will be two flowing springs. ﴾50﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾51﴿In both of them will be two kinds of every fruit. ﴾52﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾53﴿[They will be] reclining on beds lined with green silk. And the fruit of the two gardens will be near at hand. ﴾54﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾55﴿In them are maidens of restrained glances, whom no human has touched before, nor jinn. ﴾56﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾57﴿As though they were rubies and corals. ﴾58﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾59﴿Is the requital of goodness anything but goodness? ﴾60﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾61﴿Beside these two, there will be two [other] gardens. ﴾62﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾63﴿Dark green. ﴾64﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾65﴿In both of them will be two gushing springs. ﴾66﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾67﴿In both of them will be fruits, date-palms and pomegranates. ﴾68﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾69﴿In them are maidens good and lovely. ﴾70﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾71﴿Houris secluded in pavilions. ﴾72﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾73﴿Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn. ﴾74﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾75﴿Reclining on green cushions and lovely carpets. ﴾76﴿So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny? ﴾77﴿Blessed is the Name of your Lord, the Majestic and the Munificent! ﴾78﴿Surah Al-Waqi'aMakiha96In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.When the Imminent [Hour] befalls ﴾1﴿—there is no denying that it will befall— ﴾2﴿[it will be] lowering and exalting. ﴾3﴿When the earth is shaken violently, ﴾4﴿and the mountains are shattered into bits ﴾5﴿and become scattered dust, ﴾6﴿you will be three groups: ﴾7﴿The People of the Right Hand—and what are the People of the Right Hand?! ﴾8﴿And the People of the Left Hand—and what are the People of the Left Hand?! ﴾9﴿And the Foremost Ones are the foremost ones: ﴾10﴿they are the ones brought near [to Allah], ﴾11﴿[who will reside] in the gardens of bliss. ﴾12﴿A multitude from the former [generations] ﴾13﴿and a few from the latter ones. ﴾14﴿On brocaded couches ﴾15﴿reclining on them, face to face. ﴾16﴿They will be waited upon by immortal youths, ﴾17﴿with goblets and ewers and a cup of a clear wine, ﴾18﴿which causes them neither headache nor stupefaction, ﴾19﴿and such fruits as they prefer ﴾20﴿and such flesh of fowls as they desire, ﴾21﴿and big-eyed houris ﴾22﴿like guarded pearls, ﴾23﴿a reward for what they used to do. ﴾24﴿They will not hear therein any vain talk or sinful speech, ﴾25﴿but only the watchword, ‘Peace!’ ‘Peace!’ ﴾26﴿And the People of the Right Hand—what are the People of the Right Hand?! ﴾27﴿Amid thornless lote trees ﴾28﴿and clustered spathes ﴾29﴿and extended shade, ﴾30﴿and ever-flowing water ﴾31﴿and abundant fruits, ﴾32﴿neither inaccessible, nor forbidden, ﴾33﴿and noble spouses. ﴾34﴿We have created them with a special creation, ﴾35﴿and made them virgins, ﴾36﴿loving, of a like age, ﴾37﴿for the People of the Right Hand. ﴾38﴿A multitude from the former [generations] ﴾39﴿and a multitude from the latter [ones]. ﴾40﴿And the People of the Left Hand—what are the People of the Left Hand?! ﴾41﴿Amid infernal miasma and boiling water ﴾42﴿and the shadow of a dense black smoke, ﴾43﴿neither cool nor beneficial. ﴾44﴿Indeed they had been affluent before this, ﴾45﴿and they used to persist in the great sin. ﴾46﴿And they used to say, ‘What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected?! ﴾47﴿And our forefathers too?!’ ﴾48﴿Say, ‘Indeed the former and latter generations ﴾49﴿will all be gathered for the tryst of a known day. ﴾50﴿Then indeed, you, astray deniers, ﴾51﴿will surely eat from the Zaqqum tree ﴾52﴿and stuff your bellies with it, ﴾53﴿and drink boiling water on top of it, ﴾54﴿drinking like thirsty camels.’ ﴾55﴿Such will be the hospitality they receive on the Day of Retribution. ﴾56﴿We created you. Then why do you not acknowledge it? ﴾57﴿Have you considered the sperm that you emit? ﴾58﴿Is it you who create it, or are We the creator? ﴾59﴿We have ordained death among you, and We are not to be outmaneuvered ﴾60﴿from replacing you with your likes and recreating you in [a realm] you do not know. ﴾61﴿Certainly you have known the first genesis, then why do you not take admonition? ﴾62﴿Have you considered what you sow? ﴾63﴿Is it you who make it grow, or are We the grower? ﴾64﴿If We wish, We turn it into chaff, whereat you are left stunned [saying to yourselves,] ﴾65﴿‘Indeed we have suffered loss! ﴾66﴿No, we are deprived!’ ﴾67﴿Have you considered the water that you drink? ﴾68﴿Is it you who bring it down from the rain cloud, or is it We who bring [it] down? ﴾69﴿If We wish We can make it bitter. Then why do you not give thanks? ﴾70﴿Have you considered the fire that you kindle? ﴾71﴿Was it you who caused its tree to grow, or were We the grower? ﴾72﴿It was We who made it a reminder and a boon for the desert-dwellers. ﴾73﴿So celebrate the Name of your Lord, the All-supreme. ﴾74﴿
